Introduction
The Central Department of Nepalese History, Culure and Archaeology is one of the oldest departments of Tribhuvan University. When Tri-Chandra College was established in 1918, History was introduced with other subjects. It was Gokul Chandra Malhotra (Shastri) who from History department introduced Culture in Bachelors Level. In the remarkable year of 1959, Culture was introduced as a separate subject in the post graduate level under the name of Department of Culture. It introduced different courses on Religion & Philosophy, Archaeology, Pre-History, Iconography, Architecture and Numismatics. In 1971, it was renamed as the Central Department of Nepalese History, Culture and Archaeology (NeHCA). Again in 1972, after the introduction of New Education System, this discipline was introduced in the intermediate level. Later on, Cultural Tourism and Museology were further added. Courses have been and are updated as per the need of time and expert's advice. At present, the department runs semester system classes as per the academic calendar of Tribhuvan University. The department also collaborates with reputed international partners and universities to provide standard academic learning spheres for the students.
