Pursuing MA, MPhil/PhD in CDNeHCA

  • To familiarize courses that consist of subjects and syllabi which are quintessence for nation-building in present contexts. There are many studies and research that are necessary for the cultural and heritage spheres in Nepal.
  • To educate oneself in courses on Epigraphy and Museology which have specific job-oriented scopes are taught in CDNeHCA.
  • To acquire in-depth knowledge of tangible and intangible Nepalese Culture.
  • To get qualified in Public Service Commission (PSC) which acknowledges only those candidates who have passed MA in NeHCA. Such sectors are Museum and Archaeology.
  • To get wide exposure including popular theories on Cultural Tourism.
  • To be acquainted with classical art and architecture of Nepalese heritages.
  • To conduct national & international research in different genres of culture.

SALIENT FEATURES
Archaeological excavation and exploration projects
Masters level students are to undertake archaeological excavation and exploration projects under Field Archaeology as a requirement under the curriculum. Excavations are usually undertaken in January and explorations in February however, logistics is managed by the department itself. This provides students with the opportunity to explore major archaeological sites in the country.

Internal Academic tour
Masters-level students are also provided with the opportunity to be a part of the internal academic tour in Kathmandu Valley. This allows them to explore the art, culture, and history of the Kathmandu Valley which is known for its rich heritage and culture.

Admission Criteria
The Central Department of Nepalese, History & Culture calls for admission to MA program once a year, which is usually in December/ January. Dates of admission are allocated by the office of the Dean, Humanities & Social Sciences.

The fee structure for pursuing the course in Nepalese History, Culture and Archaeology is affordable and worth investing.  The fee structure below comprises all the facilities including field study, excavation tour, internal exam fee, Journal fee, students welfare, health fee and miscellaneous.
